Management
The BlackGOLD Forestry
Manage Plan integrates the commercial and non-commercial
values of the forests we manage so that both the material
and non-material welfare of society is improved, whilst
ensuring that the values of forests, both as a resource for
commercial use and for conservation, are not lost or
degraded for current and future generations.
The Objectives cover;
The basis of our plan is
under the Australian Standard AS4708. Forest
management—Economic, social,
environmental and cultural criteria and requirements for
wood production
We soon hope to realise
certification under ISO14001 EMS
(environmental management systems) and then later
apply for PFEC and FSC
certification.
This is a first for the
Solomon Islands and is a very sizable undertaking by
BlackGOLD both in human resources and capital.
The long term benefits to
the landowners and the community which we serve are now
firmly established and the rewards to the stakeholders will
run for many generations to come.
