Indigenous Inshore Fisheries
& Joint Venture Offshore
Fishing.
The fishing licenses BlackGOLD
has negotiated are some of the
world's best. Fresh fish
from crystal oceans is a
rare commodity in an age of
confined fish farming. BlackGOLD has developed a
sustainable fish management
system along with the
communities to provide both
a commercial source for
world markets and an ongoing
renewable management system
based on world's best
environmental practices
which in turn feeds back
into the local communities.
BlackGOLD Fisheries Ltd (BGFL)
is formed with a long-term
strategy that is based on
the sustainable use of
environmentally sound
fishing practices and the
utilisation of fisheries
resources to the benefit and
employment of the Solomon
Islander peoples.
From the small inshore fleet
to our larger mother ships,
all vessels are built with
the environment in mind
through the use of bio
diesel, solar energy, low
noise emission and the
lowest emission ratings
(Euro 4) possible on all
engines.
Strict fishing procedures in
bi catch management are a
key to our system with local
communities being the
beneficiary of any such bi
product. (no waste). These
plans avoid fishing in areas
when whales, dolphins and
birds are active. The
correct targeting of fish
species in areas away from
local fishing areas and
careful management of those
areas to ensure fishing at
the right times to avoid
fish breeding seasons and or
over fishing.
With the assistance of
Government we monitor and
assess catch sustainability
of reef species through
accurate recording of catch
histories based on location
and time of year and compare
against areas set aside for
marine conservation.
